Requisition Title: Associate / Full Professor - Operations Research - 1701575

The Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering at the University of Toronto invites applications for one tenure-stream faculty position in the area of Operations Research at the rank of Associate or Full Professor, starting July 1, 2018.

Candidates must have a PhD in operations research, industrial engineering, or a related discipline. The ideal candidate will have an established international reputation in one or more methodological areas as well as in key application domains related to Operations Research (e.g., data analytics and machine learning). An emphasis will be placed on the demonstrated ability to strengthen the capacity of research and teaching of the existing faculty members in the area of Operations Research within the program. The successful candidate must have an outstanding academic and research record including refereed publications, and effective teaching ability. It is preferred that candidates have an undergraduate degree in engineering and be eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer.

The successful candidate will be involved in undergraduate and graduate teaching, research, and departmental service. Evidence of excellence in research and teaching are required.

The successful candidate must provide evidence of an established international reputation as demonstrated by leadership in the academic community, as evidenced by editorships, research output, awards and accolades; as well as excellence in research as evidenced primarily by sustained contributions and the quality of publications in top-ranked and field relevant journals, the submitted research statement, strong letters of reference from referees of high international standing, and other documents submitted for review. Participation in top conferences, presenting research at other highly ranked schools, and other noteworthy activities in engineering that contribute to the visibility and prominence of the discipline are assets.

Excellence in teaching should be demonstrated by a strong statement of teaching philosophy, excellent teaching evaluations, strong endorsements from referees, and the teaching dossier submitted as part of the application.

Salary and rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
