Residential Family Advocate
Reports To: Children's Services Manager
Days/Hours: Tuesday - Thursday 12 Noon - 9:00 p.m., Friday, 9:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. and Saturdays 9:00 a .m. - 6:00 p.m. Hours may vary depending on department/agency needs.
Workplace Location(s): Women In Distress' Family Center
- Bachelor's Degree in psychology, social work, counseling or related field or three years' experience in social services.
- Computer literate.
- Two years' experience in the field of domestic violence preferred.
- Valid Florida driver's license. Proof of Automobile Liability Insurance. Safe driving record.
- Bilingual Spanish preferred.
General Job Description: The Residential Family Advocate will provide comprehensive case management and advocacy services to child survivors of domestic violence and their non-offending caregiver in the Women In Distress Emergency Shelter. Case management services will consist of advocacy, counseling, completing child assessments, reporting child abuse when appropriate, creating and reviewing safety plans, providing appropriate resources and referrals, and providing supportive services to the children and their caregiver. The Residential Family Advocate will be familiar with community resources as a referral source for families in need of therapeutic, financial, legal, medical, educations, and employment assistance. The Residential Family Advocate will work closely with the Children's Services Manager and Residential Manager to create efficient and engaging programs for children and their families. The Residential Family Advocate will ensure that all services provided are empowerment-based and are consistent with Florida Coalition Against Domestic Violence (FCADV) standards.
