College/Department Overview

Assist the CFAD Marketing Director and the ACM@UCO CEO in the marketing, communication and promotion of UCO College of Fine Arts and Design and ACM@UCO student events. Initiate and create communications for printed and electronic promotional material for student recruitment and retention. Write copy for press releases, newsletters, web and other marketing needs. Facilitate printing of event programs, posters, fliers, post cards and other student support pieces.

Position Overview

Assist in the marketing, communications, or sales for a department. Aid in coordinating promotional events. Update and assemble promotional packets. Provide support to senior personnel in developing marketing, communications, and/or sales plans.

Department Specific Essential Job Functions

Essential Duties:
Initiate, research and create written copy to promote the College's various student events, encourage student recruitment and retention as well as support the student transformative learning facets of the mission of the College. (40%)

Act as the CFAD & ACM web content coordinator to upload written content, photos and specialized graphics for the entire CFAD website with special emphasis on sound student and academic support principles. (30%)

Create and design various graphics, photos, videos and printed publications to supplement the College's academic marketing and promotional needs with emphasis on consistent University and College branding as well as sound marketing and communications principles. (10%)

Work directly with all of the various CFAD academic departments to maintain a coherent academic presence on social networking sites by uploading messages, photos and videos about CFAD Academic programs and classes. Evaluate the effectiveness of all social media efforts through generated reports and successfully tap into publicity trends to attract and retain a wide variety of audiences. (15%)

Qualifications/Experience Required

Performs administrative or manual tasks. Requires general education or vocational training and 6+ years of relevant experience in chosen field or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Qualifications/Experience Preferred

Bachelor's degree in Strategic Communications, Media Writing, Journalism, Marketing, Communications, Public Relations or related field is strongly preferred. Extensive professional experience (six or more years) in Media Writing, Graphic Design, Web Content Management and Marketing Communications

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

Proficient user of Adobe Creative Cloud, Microsoft Office, Web Content Management software and Basecamp project management software. Must be creative, detail-oriented, a self starter and have good communication as well as organizational skills.

Physical Demands

Repetitive movement of hands and fingers - typing and/or writing. Frequent standing, and/or
sitting. Occasional walking, stooping, kneeling or crouching. Reach with hands and arms.
Visually identify, observe and assess. Ability to communicate with supervisor/students/colleagues. Regular physical attendance required.
