Essential functions of this position:
Functions as the lead nurse in a clinical team in the provision of health care in a fast- paced college health center. Administrative responsibilities include providing supervision to the nursing team, including scheduling, training, and evaluation. The Lead Nurse is a member of the management team. Clinical responsibilities include obtaining pertinent medical information during check-in; educating patients; providing care and treatment to patients consistent with nursing practice and theory; and administering vaccinations and performing basic laboratory tests.

N.C. Minimum Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
License to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of North Carolina.

Additional knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the essential functions of the position:
Accurately assess a patient’s medical problem
A strong commitment to customer service and patient care
Ability to accurately assess a patient and perform clinical skills including administering medications and immunizations, drawing blood, starting IVs and performing EKGs
Ability to maintain confidentiality and the ability to handle situations with tact and discretion
Excellent communication skills (both oral and written) and the ability to communicate effectively to students, families, staff and faculty
Ability to work with a variety of staff across multiple disciplines
Ability to function independently, seeking input as needed, and the ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced, high-traffic environment
Strong attention to detail

Preferred education, professional skills and experience:
BSN preferred
Previous work experience as a nurse in a college health setting preferred
Previous supervision experience preferred
Previous experience scheduling multiple people including PRN staff preferred
Previous experience and/or knowledge of NC immunization requirements preferred
Previous experience administering allergy shots preferred

Certifications or licensure required to perform the essential functions of the position:
Graduate of a state accredited school of professional nursing
Must be licensed to practice as a registered nurse in North Carolina, by the N.C. Board of Nursing
Current CPR certification required
Maintain active professional licensure and CME requirements

Recruitment Range: $58,000 - $60,000
NC Salary Grade Equivalency: 74
Hours Per Week: 1.0 (40 hours per week)
Months Per Year: 12 Months
Work Days: Monday - Friday
Work Hours: 8:00AM - 5:00PM
