Job Description:

Responsible for the academic advisement and counseling of undergraduate students in the College of Design, Construction & Planning.  Provide academic and career information to current and prospective undergraduate students in the College of Design, Construction and Planning, including the following topic areas: course schedules, academic four-year plans, tracking, probation, career coaching, study skills, minors, honors thesis, research opportunities, combined degree programs, internships, choosing a major, study abroad, and the petitions process.  Primary advisor for DCP students in the Pathway to Campus Enrollment (PaCE) program.
 
Assist with recruitment of students for the DCP degree programs. Working with the Assistant Director, coordinate and attend various on campus and off campus recruiting events including UF Preview Presentations, Transfer Orientations, PaCE Preview Sessions, Florida Days, University of Florida (UF) Open House, and DCP Open House.  Update recruitment materials and work with high schools and State Colleges to recruit students to DCP majors. 

Process transfer applications and record admissions decisions.  Respond to inquiries regarding transfer admissions process. 

Serve as backup administrator for the College of Design, Construction & Planning grade collection, degree certification, and universal tracking.

Serve as the faculty advisor for the DCP Ambassador Student Group.

Advertised Salary:

Commensurate with qualifications and experience

Minimum Requirements:

Masters degree in education, counseling, or an academic field directly related to the advisor's area of responsibility; or a bachelors degree in education, counseling, or an academic field directly related to the advisors area of responsibility and one year of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Willingness to recruit for the College of DCP with enthusiasm and professionalism
  • Proficiency with MS programs and student records software
  • Comfort speaking in front of groups
  • Knowledge of University guidelines
  • Must be able to professionally communicate with students and colleagues and have high attention to detail
  • Ability to work with others as a team, share responsibilities and train on new tasks
  • Willingness to gain knowledge of the majors and career opportunities in DCP
