Duties: The Grants Coordinator A will provide pre-award and post-award support for sponsored research within the Department of Dermatology, primarily on federal and non-federal grants, under the supervision of the grant manager. S/he will gain knowledge and skills to function as a resource for sponsored program guidelines, policies, and procedures. Responsibilities include: assist with the preparation of new and non-competing sponsored project budgets, prepare and submit entire proposals through Penn systems, monitor expenditures for compliance, perform account reconciliations and analysis, perform account closeouts, payroll entry, reviewing effort reports, journal entry, assist research faculty and staff in Penn systems, monitor and invoice clinical study activity, administer petty cash, produce monthly and ad-hoc financial/grant reports.
In addition to the above duties, the Grants Coordinator B will be responsible for the following: developing study trackers, conducting financial analysis of clinical trials, tracking monthly usage of Dermatology's core services for reporting and invoicing, The Grants Coordinator B will use more independent judgment and work on more complicated grants, acting as a liaison to the Offices of Research Services, Clinical Research, and Penn Center for Innovation.
This position reports to the grant manager and has a dotted reporting line to PSOM Office of Research Support Services.

Qualifications: Grant and contract administration and/or accounting preferred with knowledge of and demonstrated competency with compliance issues related to the management of both federal and non-federal sponsored research. Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience in University financial systems is preferred. Candidate must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills to work independently as well as part of a team with faculty and staff under strict deadlines while demonstrating attention to detail.
Grants Coordinator A- The minimum of an Associate degree and 2 to 3 years of experience, or equivalent combination of education and experienced, required.
Grants Coordinator B- The minimum of a Bachelors degree and 2 years to 4 years of experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience, are required. Prior experience with clinical trials would be preferred but not required.
