Bachelor's degree. Three (3) years of full time professional fundraising experience in charitable gift planning or major gift fundraising.

Preferred Qualifications:

Additional years of fundraising experience in charitable gift planning or major gift fundraising. Planned giving experience with in­-depth knowledge of estate planning law as it impacts charitable giving. Experience within a higher education/research institution. Demonstrated success in managing a portfolio of prospects and securing six figure charitable gifts from individuals. Proficient in contact management software (i.e. Raiser’s Edge). Proficient in planned giving software (i.e. PG Calc).

Brief Description of Duties:

Primary responsibilities include: qualifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding prospects with a focus on bequests, life-income gifts, and other complex gift transactions. The ideal candidate will be both a self-starter and a team player who can successfully collaborate with other Advancement colleagues in presenting planned gift options to viable prospects. The incumbent will also be required to attend gift planning or other University cultivation events and will assist with the administration and processing of planned and outright gifts as needed. Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills are a must.

Responsibilities:

  • Meet and exceed specific measurable goals for face-to-face donor visits and donor-related contacts, solicitations, and verified bequests and planned gifts.
  • Prepare gift planning documents relating to the solicitation and closing of charitable gift annuities. This will include CGA proposals as well as annuity contracts.
  • Review legal documents necessary to close planned gifts.
  • Draft correspondence to donors, personal representatives, trustees, attorneys and insurance companies.
  • Other duties or projects as assigned as appropriate to rank and departmental mission.

Ability to independently carry out multiple and diverse tasks concurrently.

Ability to take on added responsibility as it is presented.

Ability to articulate complicated gift planning concepts to donors, professional advisors and internal constituents.

Demonstrated record of meeting specific annual goals for contacts and solicitations.

Team player who is highly motivated and dedicated to the goals of advancing higher education.

Ability to work collaboratively within a large Advancement Office and perform in an intellectually rigorous and complex academic environment.

Ability to apply sound judgment skills in all situations, especially related to donor issues.

Meticulous attention to detail.

Special Notes: This is a full time position. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA.
