CMM Programmer / Quality Engineer
Reports to: Vice President of Quality and Engineering
The CMM Programmer / Quality Engineer is responsible for first production part inspections as well as annual inspection requirements. The Quality Engineer will perform capability studies as well as gage R and R studies. All work will be performed in accordance with ISO 9001:2008 and ISO/TS 16949:2009 requirements.
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
1. First Production Part Approvals
a. Define appropriate inspection techniques
b. Creates inspection plans for production to ensure part compliance and conformance
i. Design and procure (standard and custom) production gages
c. Inspect parts in accordance with defined techniques
i. Develop robust CMM program/inspection fixtures with detailed work instructions to ensure repeatable inspection results.
d. Organizes data and presents management organized layout reports
2. Annual PPAP
a. Create/Maintain Annual PPAP Schedule
b. Complete annual layouts
c. Organizes data and presents management organized layout reports
3. Capability Studies
a. Maintain capability studies on all critical dimensions/ dimensions defined by the customer
4. Gauge R and R Studies
a. Maintain gage R and R on all gauges
5. Problem Solving
a. Inspect product and tooling as required and present findings to management
a. Formulate calibration and repair procedures to maintain accuracy of measuring and indicating instruments and equipment.
b. Test, calibrate and repair measuring and indicating instruments and equipment.
c. Design, develop and procure custom fixtures and measuring/indicating equipment

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Minimum Qualifications for Hire
1. Bachelor's degree in engineering/quality or equivalent experience.
2. Can independently interpret part prints and create robust/repeatable programs using the CMM
3. Proficient in using standard inspection tools (Calipers, height gages, optical comparator, micrometer, etc.)
4. Knowledge of North American Automotive Quality Core Tools (APQP/PPAP, FMEA, MSA, and/or SPC).
5. Thorough understanding of SPC, sampling techniques and procedures.
6. Thorough understanding of capability studies
7. Thorough understanding of Gauge R and R
8. Thorough understanding of GD&T
Preferred Qualifications (On the job training provided)
1. Experience in injection molded thermosets.
2. Knowledge of general safety best practices.
3. Proficient in applicable IQMS software modules.
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
While performing the duties of this job the employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. Some of the work will be performed in manufacturing facility where the noise level may be loud.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position, 40 hours of work expected per week. General business hours are Monday through Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected.
