FT Admin - Coordinator of Fostering STARS/Life Skills Coach
Coordinate, design, implement and manage activities of the Fostering S.T.A.R.S. (Students Transforming, Achieving, and Realizing Success) program. Facilitates planning and implementation of services provided by the Center for Student Support; additionally, keeping with the goals and mission of the division and college in collaboration with the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) Independent Living Skills Coach(s)’ grant. Coordinates and provides specialized support to eligible college aged-out youth formerly in foster care. Acts as liaison to MDHHS, writing reports, overseeing budget, data collection, and grant compliance. Works with internal and external champions to coordinate services and administer grant funds. Provides direct comprehensive wrap-around coaching, academic support, personal, social, and assessment services. Serves as a campus-wide advocate for the students.
Master’s Degree in one of the following Human Service areas: Social Work, Student Personnel, Sociology, Psychology, Family Ecology, Consumer/Community Services, Family Studies, Family and/or Child Development, Guidance/School Counseling, Counseling Psychology, Criminal Justice, Education or Higher Education.
Experience in crisis response and conflict resolution required.
Demonstrated administrative and coordinating skills required.
Strong interpersonal, organizational, verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work in an ever-changing, fast paced, team oriented environment.
Three professional references required.
Minimum of 3 years of progressive professional educational experience preferred.
Training in clinical issues and trauma response preferred.
Higher education work experience strongly preferred.
Significant demonstrated work experience working with foster care youth and or diverse populations preferred.
