The Practicum Coordinator plays an integral role in Chamberlain College of Nursing's MSN students' journeys to success in completing their degrees. If you are a highly motivated self-starter and team player, this may be a great opportunity for you.

As a Practicum Coordinator you will be responsible for arranging all practicum experiences for Chamberlain College of Nursing's online students. You will assist faculty, program directors and students in identifying sites for students to successfully complete their practicum learning experiences. Reporting to the Manager of Practicum Operations, you will support the mission and philosophy of Chamberlain and represent the College to clinical agencies, students and the community.

  • Develop and manage relationships with clinical and community agency sites for nursing students to complete practicum experiences and present sites to program director for approval. Responsible for obtaining signatures and renewing and/or terminating contracts between Chamberlain University and clinical sites, based on alignment with program outcomes and course objectives.
  • Manage relationships with existing agency partners to ensure student and practicum site satisfaction as well as successful practicum experiences for students. Responsible for the identification and assessment of concerns related to management of practicum experiences; facilitates appropriate intervention with faculty and program directors.
  • Create and deliver presentations about Chamberlain University programs and practica requirements/capstone projects to key leaders/stakeholders.
  • Maintain complete knowledge and understanding of Chamberlain University's curriculum and programs and clearly explain to clinical partners.
  • Participate in academic planning and scheduling for students by facilitating timely practicum planning.
  • Facilitate recruitment and selection of practicum preceptors and mentors utilized in student practicum experiences.
  • Prepare, documents, tracks and reports practicum placements.
  • Serve as role model for faculty, staff, and students in the areas of customer service, collaboration, communication, excellence, attendance, and general professionalism.
  • Utilize relationship skills in situations requiring group problem solving, consensus building, and win-win negotiation.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.


Candidate must be a highly motivated self-starter who can be a team player and desires to share creative solutions and best practices. Requirements include problem-solving, critical thinking skills and the ability to balance multiple tasks simultaneously. Other qualifications include:

  • Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience working in healthcare education and/or the healthcare field, directly with or for providers is highly preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills, attention to detail and the mental concentration necessary to accurately perform tasks while tolerating frequent interruptions.
  • Comfortable making presentations to students and/or clinical sites.
  • Comfortable developing relationships via phone and in-person (inside sales, business development, customer management and/or sales support skills are helpful).
  • Some local travel (up to 5%) to graduation ceremonies, student immersion weekends and, potentially, various clinical sites.
