I. DEPARTMENT INFORMATION

Job Description Summary:

The Research Assistant supports the implementation of the Global Women’s Institute’s robust portfolio of interdisciplinary research by providing research assistance, which may include conducting literature reviews, developing and/or modifying techniques/protocols, assisting with quantitative and qualitative data analysis and summarizing findings. Supports the other members of GWI’s research team by scheduling meetings, making travel arrangements, submitting expense reports, assisting with the organization and implementation of research-related events, and other administrative duties.

Primary responsibilities include:

Prepares literature reviews on topics related to gender equality and violence against women & girls.

Provides administrative and technical support related to the work of the research team, which may include making travel arrangements, organizing and preparing for meetings or events, maintaining files, making copies of materials, submitting expense reports, etc.

Assists in quantitative or qualitative data collection, coding, and analysis.

Assists in writing research and evaluation reports

Performs other work related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.

Minimum Qualifications:

A BA/BS in related discipline is required, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Additional Required Licenses/Certifications/Posting Specific Minimum Qualifications: Preferred Qualifications:

A degree in public health, social work, anthropology, education, humanities or related social science degree.

Experience in University or research environment.
Some administrative skills and experience.
Some knowledge or understanding of gender-based violence research.
Second language.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong writing and communication skills.
