Visiting Assistant Professor of Computer Science
Job Summary and Requirements: Denison University invites applications for a visiting faculty position in Computer Science for a three-year term, to begin in either January 2018 or August 2018. Candidates must have earned at least a Master's degree (or ABD) in Computer Science or a closely related field; a Ph.D. is preferred. (Individuals without a Ph.D. will be assigned the rank of Instructor.) The visiting position may transition to a tenure track position for a candidate with a Ph.D. We are seeking an energetic and dynamic teacher who is committed to teaching a variety of undergraduate CS courses in a liberal arts setting and mentoring undergraduate students. Visiting faculty are encouraged to maintain active research programs; Denison will support the research and teaching of the successful candidate with professional development funds of $3,000 per year. The teaching load for this position is 5 courses per year. The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science offers B.A. and B.S. degrees in both computer science and mathematics. The CS major is growing rapidly and projected to graduate approximately 25 majors per year over the next several years. Denison's strong CS curriculum emphasizes core principles and interdisciplinary connections, exemplified by three flavors of our interdisciplinary introductory course. The Department is also a primary contributor to Denison's new interdisciplinary program in Data Analytics.
