The Molecular and Cell Biology Department is seeking to fill a 10-month Laboratory Assistant (UCP 1) position. The successful candidate will provide support for undergraduate teaching laboratories in the department. The estimated start date is mid-October and expected work hours would be Monday – Friday from 7am to 3pm.

Duties will include a significant amount of glassware washing/sterilization, decontamination of biohazard waste following approved safety guidelines, assistance with care of zebra fish, and maintenance of laboratory cleanliness. The duties for this position are repetitive in nature and require a significant amount of standing while performing tasks.


Associate's degree in related field; working knowledge of standard laboratory procedures, including safety and hazardous waste disposal; the ability to lift 40lbs; and the ability to perform other tasks while standing.


Post degree laboratory experience in an academic setting and strong organizational and interpersonal skills.

Physical Requirements: Incumbents must possess the ability to perform the required duties set forth above.


This is a ten-month position with an excellent benefits package.
