The University of Virginia Health System's Analytics and Reporting Team seeks an Application Systems Analyst 4. The primary responsibility of this position is to develop and maintain clinical and translational research support databases, under the supervision of the Administrator for Analytics. The incumbent will work with researchers and existing team members to enable research using existing enterprise tools (e.g. REDCap) and project-specific data access software. He or she will perform or collaborate in the full range of systems development life cycle tasks including documentation and development of training materials. As databases reach production, this position will work with biomedical researchers to create and manage research data sets, and will participate in the ongoing evolutionary development of these data resources.
Bachelor's degree in a healthcare or scientific field is required. Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. At least five years hands-on experience developing and collecting survey data in a commercial or academic setting is required. A Master's degree may be considered in lieu of relevant experience. Proficiency in SQL is required.
Excellent communication and writing skills are required, as is the ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical colleagues and customers. The successful candidate must be able to analyze complex technical situations and present recommendations, as well as work effectively as part of a team.
A Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field is preferred. Proficiency in REDCap development, experience with MySQL database maintenance, and PHP/HTML development are all preferable.
This is a restricted position contingent upon the continued availability of funding.
