Degree and Area of Specialization:
Master's degree required. Advanced degree preferred, such as PhD.
Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:
At least 4 years of work experience related to:
Management and analysis of large, complex health data sets; formal training or significant experience in applied biostatistics; strong computational experience and knowledge of R, linux, python/perl, etc.
Experience writing and contributing to peer-reviewed academic science publications is preferred.
Previous teaching or training experience a plus.
Experience in programming and data manipulation required.
Experience with script writing, such as perl, strongly preferred.
Experience conducting research, working with data, writing papers, etc. required.
Knowledge and experience of biostatistics.
The Assistant Research Scientist will be responsible for the ongoing development and utilization of a multi-component statistical model with applications in environmental public health and urban development. The role requires demonstrable experience with R programming for data analysis and visualization, as well as strong data management and biostatistical skills. High competence and independence in statistical methods will be expected to complete computational analysis and assist in all aspects of execution and interpretation of results.
The successful candidate will have responsibility in terms of collaboration and engagement with a variety of internal and external stakeholders such as researchers, funders, governmental agencies, data contributors and other collaborators. Designing and leading demonstrations and trainings of the statistical model for external users will also be required periodically.
This position serves as an Assistant Research Scientist in the Global Health Institute, working directly under the supervision of Professor Jonathan Patz.
