Position Description

Advertised Job Summary

The Human Resources Coordinator is responsible for preparing and maintaining employment records related to actions such as hiring, termination, leave, transfers, or promotions for a large health care organization. Processes various forms such as background checks, employment eligibility verifications (I-9) and a variety of other hiring documents. Creates and reviews all department personnel forms for completeness, accuracy, timing, and conformity to policy guidelines. Acts as the liaison with SHS Clinic/Department managers, administrative staff, Human Resource representatives and others as necessary to obtain and provide personnel information. Assists with determining salary compensation for vacant positions by comparing similar position using an occupational information database. Anticipate and identify potential human resource and payroll problems to minimize the financial and operational impact to SHS. Communicate and educate department personnel policies and/or benefit changes. Investigate, document, and resolve unique payroll and human resource problems and issues. Oversees, guides, and coordinates search committee activities to fill vacant positions. Assists with the coordination of the Employee Performance Review System (EPMS) process. Perform other related duties incidental to the work described above.

Minimum Qualifications (Classified and Unclassified positions)

Bachelor's degree, or high school diploma and 4 years work experience that is directly related to the area of employment; or equivalency.

Preferred Qualifications

2 years of Human Resources experience.

Strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Ability to provide and understand the importance of excellent customer service to internal and external stakeholders. Knowledge of recruitment principles, methods, techniques, and resources. Database management skills. Ability to develop and deliver presentations. Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities. Ability to lead and train staff. Knowledge of affirmative action and equal employment principles, concepts and methodology. Ability to investigate and analyze information and draw conclusions. Ability to make administrative and procedural decisions and judgments on sensitive, confidential issues. Knowledge of employee recruitment and employment principles. Knowledge of federal, state, and local equal opportunity/affirmative action legislation, policies, procedures, and documentation requirements. Knowledge of business letter writing and basic report preparation. Knowledge of basic business arithmetic. Skilled in using Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and other electronic software systems.
