Career and Employment Services (CES) at the University of Puget Sound offers a unique opportunity for a problem-solving, technology-savvy, collaborative, and innovative thinker. The Technology Coordinator serves as the functional technologist for a team of individuals who support the career development of Puget Sound students. As such, the Technology Coordinator is responsible for developing, sustaining, and continually analyzing the effectiveness of the integrated CES data and information delivery systems that support job/internship searches, career exploration process, and survey collection. Puget Sound is a PeopleSoft institution, and we use a variety of PeopleSoft modules to perform our work. We seek a team member to manage data, maintenance, and reporting in support of CES work. Third-party systems are essential tools for CES and the Technology Coordinator must be able to implement, administer, and provide ongoing support for all departmental applications.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Thinks creatively to ensure the best use of technology. Continually improves technology tools and services in support of our constituents. Serves as first-line support resource for all departmental technology-related issues with applications, third-party systems, hardware, etc. Researches the root cause of system issues, leads troubleshooting efforts, and coordinates with Technology Services and/or appropriate third-party vendor when necessary. Takes a primary role in recommending, planning, developing and implementing systems that support CES operations. Works collaboratively with staff members in Technology Services and Human Resources when necessary to ensure integration with institutional data, application and processes as well as compliance to university technology standards and directions. Coordinates and oversees current system projects. Maintains specifications for desired updates or new functionality and coordinates annual and periodic requests for programming assistance and application development. Coordinates regular system testing, gathering test data, performing initial testing, coordinating user testing, reporting and following up on test results. Maintains CES data and application system security. Uses appropriate tools to develop ad-hoc queries, reports, and data models. Establishes schedules for regular report runs and manages collection and distribution of reports; reviews, interprets, troubleshoots, and summarizes reports as needed. Works with the Student Employment Advisor to manage recruiting in PeopleSoft for student staff. Manages setup of job data for hired students in PeopleSoft and associated work-study awards.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in related area and one year of related experience OR equivalent combination of training and experience. Demonstrated competence in working with complex database systems and query tools. Proficient user of computers and computer software programs such as Microsoft Office. Intermediate skill level with Microsoft Excel, preferred. Experience with PeopleSoft preferred. Knowledge of project management and developing process documentation. Exceptional organizational, analytical, problem-solving, planning and execution skills with frequent interruptions Higher education experience preferred (career services, student employment, human resources, financial aid, or related field). Must demonstrate a strong customer service orientation and outstanding written and verbal communication skills. Supports and contributes to the success and development of colleagues. Must demonstrate strong critical thinking, debugging and troubleshooting skills. Ability to respectfully work, communicate and provide leadership within a diverse campus community
