The English and Communication Department invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin August 2018. The department seeks candidates committed to undergraduate teaching excellence at a comprehensive institution that supports both liberal arts curricula and professional programs. The ideal candidate will be an individual who can teach a combination of courses in our Communication and Media program (e.g., Introduction to Media Studies, Media Ethics and Law, Oral Communication, Public Relations, Race and Ethnicity in Media). Preferred candidates will also be capable of developing and teaching classes that explore communication from a culturally diverse standpoint to be cross-listed for both communication and English majors. The selected individual will be required to teach four undergraduate courses each semester, engage in scholarly activity, participate in academic advisement, and contribute to departmental and college service.

The selected individual should be capable of teaching some combination of communication and media courses from the following list: Introduction to Media Studies, Media Ethics and Law, Oral Communication, Race and Ethnicity in Media, and Public Relations. This faculty member will be required to teach four courses each semester, engage in scholarly activity, participate in academic advisement, and contribute to departmental and college service. Teaching load may be reduced by one course/year depending on requests for scholarly reassignment.

Preferred candidates will be capable of teaching upper-level courses in writing and/or rhetoric. Ideal candidates should also be able to develop and teach courses from a culturally-diverse standpoint.

A PhD in communication or related field is required. ABDcandidates will be considered.
