Position Summary:

Dominican University of California is seeking a candidate for an Administrative Assistant position. The Administrative Assistant reports to the Director and Chair of the Department of Nursing.  This position collaborates with the Assistant Director, nursing faculty, staff, IEN Coordinator, and students. The major responsibilities of this position include: clinical on-boarding, registration, and placements for undergraduate and IEN students.


  1. Organize and work on all aspects of clinical on-boarding and health clearance
  2. Assist Clinical Placement Coordinator as needed with all student clinical placements (including preceptor placements)
  3. Support Clinical Placement Coordinator as needed with the accurate and timely completion of required paperwork to all clinical facilities
  4. Collaborate with the Registrar’s Office regarding nursing student registration for all nursing courses
  5. Support the Chair and designated faculty to ensure updated student and faculty handbooks, preceptor handbooks, student clinical agency paperwork and other documents are stored in the nursing department and on Moodle
  6. Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree (AA) or equivalent
  • Three to five years related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and an ability to interpret information in written, oral, or diagram formats
  • Proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Word programs
  • Demonstrated commitment to work excellence
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills with an ability to manage priorities and workflow
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to deal effectively and professionally with diverse individuals
  • Ability to demonstrate sound judgement
  • Ability to demonstrate flexibility, versatility, and an ability to work in an environment with constantly changing priorities
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and organize projects
  • Ability to remain calm and efficiently handle multiple tasks at the same time
  • Ability to observe safety and security procedures and use equipment and materials properly
