The Maine Community College System (MCCS) is seeking a Chief Information Officer (CIO).  This senior management position is responsible for overseeing system-wide planning, development, implementation, coordination, and support of MCCS information technology (IT) functions.  This position will lead strategic initiatives that support an effective, coordinated, and efficient technology environment across the System. The CIO will work in close collaboration with the colleges and MCCS Office of Institutional Research (IR) to further the design of a secure database infrastructure that integrates sensitive data from various sources to support a culture of data-driven, evidence based strategic approaches.

The position is responsible for implementing and overseeing operational standards for enterprise-wide infrastructure and applications, including Jenzabar EX; ensuring adequate coordination, budgeting, and implementation of upgrades and new applications; and monitoring developments in technology. The CIO will also be responsible for providing technical expertise and support to IT and IR staff.

A bachelor’s degree and 5-10 years of progressive information technology management experience with a demonstrated understanding of the higher education environment are required, as are strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills with the ability to work collaboratively in a diverse group of individuals. Highly desirable are database development experience within a Microsoft SQL Server environment, experience with Jenzabar EX, and a Master’s degree.
