Job Summary/Basic Function: The Admissions Specialist reports to the Director of Admissions. This position is responsible to admit students in an effective and timely manner. The individual must create application files, evaluate, accept or reject students based on policies and procedures. This individual is responsible for making the admission process as effective as possible for the students. Must provide excellent customer service.

Work Hours: 40 hour workweek. Typically Monday-Friday. Schedule may vary from 8am-5pm and one evening shift. May include some evening or weekend work.

Evaluates undergraduate domestic transcripts. Evaluates course equivalencies, academic status, and repeated courses. Posts transfer work. Assists in collecting, updating and processing student record information. Updates student record transcripts as needed.

Creates new admission application files. Receives and/or runs admission reports and makes corrections as needed.

General Duties
Helps in the process of daily loading of Apply Texas applications into Banner system. Provide in-service training information/material for faculty, counselors, and staff on occasion. Handles telephone calls, email, and mail duties. Sends correspondence to students that fall into designated alpha distribution. Provides backup as needed to enrollment management staff as needed.

Qualifications

Education

Necessary Qualifications: Associate's degree.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience

Necessary Qualifications: Specialist I
No prior experience required.

Specialist II
Two years of related experience in a higher education setting.

Preferred Qualifications: One year of related experience, preferably in admissions and/or registrar environments.

Experience using a relational database management system such as Banner, Datatel, etc..

Experience using Banner modules at a power user level.

Other Requirements or Other Factors

Other Qualifications for Posting: Necessary
Experience using student information system software.

Working knowledge of FERPA rules and regulations and ability to ensure compliance.
