Assistant Professor of Economics
Texas Lutheran University invites applications for a full-time, tenure track faculty position in the Department of Business and Economics to begin August 2018. We seek a colleague who is a gifted and dedicated educator, able to cover a wide array of courses in the economics major and the department’s finance specialization, with a commitment to working with colleagues within the department and across the university to both challenge and support majors from a diverse student body, and having research interests that can also provide opportunities for engagement with talented undergraduate students.
Requirements for the position include:
- Ph.D. in economics or a sub-discipline of economics (ABD considered with assurance of completion no later than August 2018)
- Evidence of excellence and innovation in teaching undergraduate economics and/or business students at the introductory and advanced level in the classroom (or convincing intent to pursue same)
- Commitment to university/community service, business and community outreach, and continued professional development
- Understanding and support of the mission of Texas Lutheran University.
In our considerations, preference will be given to candidates committed to student engagement/active learning in the classroom, who also have 18 graduate hours in related other business or math/statistics disciplines; interest or experience leading study abroad experiences for students; teaching cross-disciplinary and/or freshman-experience courses; teaching in the TLU Honors Program; or teaching on-line or blended courses.
The TLU Department of Business and Economics offers BBA, Master of Accountancy, and Master of Science in Data Analytics degrees, along with the BA in Economics and minors in business and economics. The department consistently has more than 300 majors (TLU student body =1330) and has grown consistently in the last decades.
