Position Summary: The Division of Infectious Diseases, Department of Medicine at the UNC School of Medicine is recruiting for a faculty appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor on the tenure track. Responsibilities include conducting both ongoing scientific research and supporting inpatient and outpatient clinical duties. Research should focus on malaria epidemiology and transmission in Southeast Asia, should be translational in nature, and should complement ongoing research activities in the UNC Infectious Diseases, Epidemiology and Ecology Lab. Familiarity with molecular genotyping and sequencing methods is necessary, and formal training in clinical research and basic statistical methods is desired. The ideal candidate will have a history of self-initiated funding (such as a K-level NIH award or foundation grant), with plans in place for pursuing NIH funding as an independent investigator within the first two years of appointment.

Education Requirements: Candidates should have an M.D. degree from an accredited US medical school and be BC/BE in Infectious Diseases. Evidence of formal training in clinical research is preferred (MSCR, MSPH, MPH, PhD, etc)

Qualification and Experience: Experience conducting clinical and translational malaria research in Southeast Asia, experience pursuing international collaboration/s with evidence of research productivity, and training in clinical research and molecular epidemiology.
