Serves as the executive support for the functions of the Office of the Dean in the Larner College of Medicine. Works with and advises the Dean and three Senior Associate Deans regarding significant institutional matters needing the Dean's or Senior Associate Deans' personal attention. Supports the Dean and Senior Associate Deans in leading an effective senior management team, handling special projects and serving as the Dean's liaison to a variety of College and University stakeholders. The assistant to the Dean is responsible for the overall management and direction of the support staff in the Office of the Dean and maintaining an overall standard of excellence in the office operations. Reports directly to the Dean of the College.
Minimum Qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
Bachelor's degree in administration or business management, with six years' experience required.

Requires solid knowledge of organizational management processes. Requires full awareness of the depth and breadth of clinical specialities and usb-specialties and related operations in the academic medical center environment.
Requires strong organizational and analytical skills. Ability to be highly effective in fast-paced environment with significant variety of issues and frequently changing priorities. Flexibility and responsiveness to change and short deadlines.
Effective communication skills to facilitate work with wide variety of individuals and groups from all levels of the University, State & Federal Government, College departments, UVM Health Network, outside organizations, etc.
Desirable Qualifications
Experience at a senior administrative level is desirable. Working knowledge of UVM institutional programs, policies, personnel, functions and operations.

This position requires a six-month probation period.
