Required Qualifications: (As Evidenced by an Attached Resume)

Bachelor’s degree in biological science or equivalent. Three (3) years of full time prior working experience performing and developing experiments involving cell cultures, molecular and cell biology techniques, protein evaluation (western blotting) and working with mice or rats.

Preferred Qualifications:

PhD, MS degree in biological science or equivalent. Additional years of experience in performing and developing cell culture, molecular and cell biology techniques, mouse and rat handling, protein evaluation (western blotting) invasion, migration assay and biochemical assays (flourogenic enzymatic, bioluminescent and fluorescent polarization assays).

Brief Description of Duties:

To assist the PI, Dr. Nashaat Turkman in the Department of Radiology/Cancer Center in developing, coordinating and monitoring laboratory experiments. The laboratory is focused on cancer imaging with Positron Emission Tomography (PET) and evaluating potential therapeutic avenues and radioactive PET tracers targeting Histone Deacetylases (HDACs) and Hypoxia in malignancies. A successful incumbent must possess a strong work ethic, scientific creativity and strong written and verbal communications skills.

Developing and performing cellular and non-cellular based biochemical assays applied to Histone Deacetylases(HDAC's) Hypoxia and other target proteins.

Applying novel therapeutic candidates to cancer cells in vitro in vivo.

Evaluating and monitoring novel PET radiotracer candidates in vitro and in vivo.

Prepare publications with results in scientific journals, assist in grant applications, may provide training and supervision of other lab personnel and participate in research meetings.

FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Minimum salary threshold must be met to maintain FLSA exemption.
