The University of Colorado School of Medicine, Department of Pediatrics, Section of Neonatology, has an opening for a full-time Professional Research Assistant at the Perinatal Research Center on the Anschutz Medical Campus. The Perinatal Research Center provides multi-disciplinary, basic and clinical research in the areas of Perinatal biology and medicine, functioning as an auxiliary service center, providing laboratory and other research-related facilities and services to Principal Investigators with the Section of Neonatology and also to other Principal Investigators in other departments. The successful candidate will actively participate in research conducted at the Perinatal Research Center. Research responsibilities will primarily include work with animals (sheep) and occasional molecular and cellular based experiments. The position will be required to spend a specified amount of time on weekends and evenings as necessary to attend to the animal experiments. Vacations will mostly be limited to the period time when animals are not present in the facility (July-September).

Salary and Benefits:



The salary range for this position has been established at $35,000 to $70,000 and is commensurate with skills and experience. The University of Colorado offers a full benefits package. Information on University benefits programs, including eligibility, is located at Employee Services.

Qualifications

Duties:

Active laboratory work studying fetal physiology, fetal metabolism, and fetal organ development. The successful candidate will actively participate in research conducted at the Perinatal Research Center. Research responsibilities will primarily include experiments with animals (sheep) and occasional molecular and cellular experiments. The position will be required to spend a specified amount of time on weekends and evenings as necessary and vacations will largely be limited to the period of time when animals are not present in the facility (July-September). This position is located in the Perinatal Research Center on the Anschutz Medical Campus.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Animal Sciences or related field, or equivalent experience .
  • Must be willing to learn new techniques as needed
  • Attention to detail
  • Work well in a lab with multiple investigators.


Required Competencies: Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • BS/BA in Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Animal Sciences or related field
  • 2 years of laboratory or animal experience


Preferred Qualifications
  • BS/BA in Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Animal Sciences or related field
  • 2 years of laboratory or animal experience
