Community Center Coordinator
Housing and Dining Services is now accepting applications for a Community Center Coordinator. The coordinator is an integral member of the team responsible for day-to-day operations and oversight of all community center related initiatives for up to 3 residence hall community centers. The coordinator will report to the assistant director over Community Center Operations. The coordinator will be responsible for supervision of community center staff within a given area, including community assistants, night community assistants, and front desk assistants. This position will also be a direct liaison between Access Services, Occupancy Management, Environmental Services, Facilities, and Summer Conferences. This position will require some evening or weekend work, especially to support summer conference operations. The coordinator is supervised by the assistant director for residence hall operations and will regularly collaborate with other members of the Residence Life team.

What your key responsibilities will be:
- Oversee 24-hour desk coverage for up to three residence halls, supervising 30+ front-line desk student staff members.
- Conduct weekly staff meetings for ongoing training, review of policies and procedures, and emphasize customer service best practices.
- Develop and implement appropriate policies and procedures for community center operations - including emergency response, procedures for addressing concerning student behavior, and protocol for high profile incidents.
- Coordinate and assess all desk operations and customer service initiatives.
- Coordinate the room move process within assigned halls and work in conjunction with liaison from Occupancy Management.
- Ensure appropriate referral to Hall Director for students desiring roommate mediation.
- Manage the overall operations of the Community Center including but not limited to: organization and maintenance of room damage forms, billing documents for students at move-out, Fix-It requests, Access Services, Environmental Services and Facilities Concerns.
- Post fliers throughout hall on public-area bulletin boards and manage content on 4-Winds Screens.
- Be accessible and visible in the residence hall community for student interaction within the hall.
- Provide leadership and accountability to Front Desk Assistant in the areas of programming and community building.
- Provide support and resources for residents/staff and refer students when appropriate.
- Responsibility for in-area CRM management and reporting.
- Organization and implementation of procedures for a designated area regarding opening, closing, and breaks in collaboration with Occupancy Management, Housing Facilities and Residence Hall and Area team members.
- Complete oversight of the room move process related to the check-in/out student process and student needs for opening++, closing and breaks.
- Perform other functions and assume other responsibilities related to operations as assigned. Develop and manage operational budget for community center desks and programs including student staff hourly wages.
- Develop appropriate operational communication plans as needed and execute the distribution of plans.
- Collaborate with Communications and Marketing unit as needed for social media messaging.
Human Resources Management
- Recruit, select, train, supervise, and conduct performance reviews for a student front desk assistants, community assistants and night community assistants.
- Communicate and hold student staff accountable for job expectations as outlined by Residence Life, and any additional expectations established within the community. Facilitate weekly evening student staff meetings.
- Attend, assist with planning, and provide leadership in training as directed by the leadership in Residence Life or designee.
- Plan and coordinate services, timing and expectations with student employees.
- Work as a member of the Residence Life Summer Conference Operations Management team, under the direction of the Assistant Director for Conference Operations, to fully execute all of the operational needs for summer conferences in the residence halls.
- Develop daily task schedule and determine appropriate priorities for operational needs of conferences.
- Hire, train and supervise student staff consisting of Student Managers, Community Assistants and Night Community Assistants.
- Manage administrative aspects of summer conference groups in relation to housing including data entry, updating spread sheets and working with Kx conferencing software.
- Coordinate aspects of housing for conference groups and/or summer school and guest housing, including check-ins/outs, building management, and preparation of facilities.
- In the summer school designated hall, maintain the community center desk operations, including supervision of the community center staff and associated administrative responsibilities.
- Supervise student staff by assigning administrative tasks and ensuring all work is complete in preparation for and closing of summer conference groups.
- Meet weekly with Conference staff to finalize plans for upcoming conference arrivals.
- Night and weekend work is required based on conference check-in and check-out schedule.
Emergency and Crisis Operations
- Communicate, educate and follow-up with residents on the student code of conduct and responsible decision making relevant to access, guest policy, trash, and damages to facilities, etc.
- Refer students experiencing emergencies and/or mental health crises to the appropriate campus resource.
- Respond to and follow-up on emergency facilities management situations. I.e.: access, floods, power outages, elevator repair, insects, et cetera.
- Serve in on-call rotation for all community center operations and building facility concerns.
- Regular communication through duty reports, incident reports, e-mail notifications, and critical incident summaries as needed. Campus Security Authority (CSA).

- Ensure that the values of diversity and inclusive excellence are in included in all aspects of the residence life program.
- Integrates inclusive excellence into the development of programs, practices, policies and processes.
- Educate staff and students in respecting and understanding cultural differences as well as privilege and oppression.
- Create an inclusive community in the residence hall through educating and challenging student staff, individual conversations with staff/students, and personal development in inclusive excellence.
- Support and assist traditionally underrepresented students(s) by utilizing campus resources, student staff, and creative and diverse programming.
- Maintain knowledge and educate self in areas of diversity and inclusive excellence.

- This full time position is guaranteed a 40-hour work week and is eligible for overtime.

What we require:

- Two years of work experience in the occupational field or specialized subject area of the work assigned to the job.
- Two years of college, university or non-correspondence school course work related to the work assignment may substitute for the required experience.

What we'd like you to have:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university.
- One year of post-bachelor work experience.
- OR Substitution: Two or more years of related student leadership work or experience during undergraduate education.
- Prior residence life work experience.
Preferred qualifications may be used to further reduce the pool of applicants to those who are most highly qualified.
