Assess, design and develop learning solutions in support of University IT Technology Training's goals. Develop standards for online and instructor-led course development, participant and instructor materials, online performance support solutions, and evaluations.


  • Design and develop course content, instructor and participant materials, including performance support materials.
  • Assess and translate general user and organizational technology needs into training programs and implementation plans.
  • Ensure appropriateness, effectiveness and success of learning programs including Train the Trainer programs.
  • Expand network of service providers and partners both internally and externally to address emerging technology training/learning needs and resource or competency gaps.
  • Proactively consult with subject matter experts to identify and formulate learning objectives and content.
  • Remain current on developments in learning and instructional methodologies and supporting technologies. Provide outreach and advocacy within or across departments for effective uses of instructional technology.
  • Recommend instructional technologies including software, hardware, and multimedia equipment. Determine best delivery methods for instructors and/or students, and provide or coordinate solutions
  • Stay informed about educational technology developments through lists, publications, and conferences.
  • Work with marketing/communication resources to develop and deliver regular communication updates on training/learning options and plans.
  • Design and apply assessment tools to measure training/learning effectiveness.
  • May manage internal and/or external teams, schedules and budgets.
  • May identify strategy for production, post-production, and delivery resources, tools and equipment necessary for the development of learning materials.

    Education & Experience:

    Bachelor's degree and seven years of relevant experience or combination of education and relevant experience.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated effectiveness in consulting with, business partners and subject matter experts to assess learning needs and recommend high-impact learning solutions and learning curricula.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in applying instructional design theory, models, and best practices.
  • Demonstrated proficiency using instructional design tools such as learning project plans, design documents, learning hierarchies, storyboards, prototypes, etc.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with all members of a learning team, vendor partners, and business partners to create a learning environment that is service oriented, supportive, engaging and effective for adult and non-traditional learners.
  • Demonstrated proficiency and experience in industry standard tools such as authoring tools, digital, graphics media, audio, animation and video production tools to create impactful courses.
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate the effectiveness of learning materials.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to convey learning content in a manner that engages learners and improves learning retention rates.
  • Experience integrating online learning courses/certification programs with one or more learning management systems.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups and individuals at all levels of an organization.
  • Demonstrated skills in project management of learning development projects involving eLearning authoring, audio, video, and text production and post-production, including product evaluation and testing.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects concurrently.
  • Ability to work with and train in both a PC and Macintosh environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for learning proposal development.
  • Strong conceptual understanding of technology including infrastructure, network, and application and associated development life cycles.

    Certifications and Licenses:

    • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification a plus


  • Frequently stand/walk, sit, use a computer; use a telephone, grasp lightly/fine manipulation.
  • Occasionally reach/work above shoulders, twist/bend/stoop/squat, grasp forcefully, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds, write by hand, sort/file paperwork.
  • Rarely kneel/crawl, operate foot and/or hand controls.

  • Travel between the main campus and other remote units.
  • General availability during business hours between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM Monday through Friday.
  • May occasionally need to work extended hours.
