The president will be an outstanding communicator with a passion for advocacy on behalf of higher education, the liberal arts and the university. The ideal candidate will possess an earned terminal degree and a record of teaching and research commensurate with an appointment as a professor with tenure. The successful candidate will also have strong organizational leadership skills and experience or have demonstrated successful leadership experience outside the academy accompanied by substantial involvement in higher education.
Above all, the president must be attuned to the pressing issues of the day as they impact the university and community constituents. The president will embody a commitment to diversity and inclusion and will have a demonstrated track record of creating and nurturing diverse, welcoming communities and teams.
