Job Description

We are seeking an experienced (5-10 years) Commercial Construction Superintendent to join our team! The Construction superintendent is responsible for coordinating, directing and overseeing the completion of all field activities as they relate to the performance of all trades on the project including subcontractors and suppliers, in accordance with design, budget, schedule, and required safety elements. . Experience in Commercial, Healthcare, and Multi-Family projects is a plus.

Responsibilities:
  • Review the project and contract documents assisting the Project Manager in preparing the construction scope of work, budget, and schedule, etc
  • Plan, prioritize, coordinate, and supervise multiple activities for project, including determining method of construction, manpower levels, material quantities, equipment needs, temporary power sources, and work schedule
  • Coordinate work with different crafts and subcontractors, assuming responsibility for productivity, efficient use of materials and equipment, and contractual performance of the project
  • Identify project opportunities and assesses project risks
  • Obtain project temporary trailer, utilities, access roads, storage facilities, fencing and other needed jobsite facilities.
  • Gain or assist in obtaining proper construction and right-away permits
  • Generate qualified subcontractor bidder, and vendor lists
  • Handle on-site paperwork for project including daily work reports, material receipts and delivery packing slips.
  • Shows creativity and resourcefulness to gain best quality and pricing from subcontractors
  • Interface with association members, project inspectors, architects, engineers, city and county officials, clients, and insurance representatives
  • Maintain high standards of workmanship that adhere to original plans and specifications
  • Monitor projects financial performance versus budgets to ensure profitability
  • Maintains communication with clients, and addresses any actions necessary to close out projects satisfactorily
  • Ensure proper use of construction management software on all projects. All project documents should be uploaded and maintained
  • Maintain awareness of safety rules and procedures among personnel, as well as identify safety hazards and implementing corrective actions

Qualifications:
  • Minimum of a high school diploma or GED
  • Must possess a valid, state-issued driver's license and be insurable with our carrier
  • Minimum 10 years of work experience in a commercial construction environment, of which 4 years must be at a foreman level
  • Ability to read, understand, and implement construction documents
  • Ability to calculate correct material, concrete, lumber, etc quantities for projects
  • Must have basic competencies in mathematics and be able to perform math operations rapidly and accurately
  • Excellent supervisory skills with ability to directly supervise several employees, as well as subcontractors at once
  • Good interpersonal skills with customer-service orientation as well as ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to produce quality work in an efficient manner with little supervision in an ever-changing environment
  • Good computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and internet-based applications
  • Ability to operate basic office equipment including computer, printer, copier, fax, scanner, and mobile phone/radio
  • Ability to work varying shifts possibly to include Saturdays and Sundays as needed to meet project schedules and demands
  • Ability to be on an "on-call" 24 hours a day rotation for project site emergencies
  • Ability for some out of town work
  • Must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Must be client and safety focused, without exception
  • Strong leadership qualities
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally both verbally and in writing
  • Strong negotiation and analytical skills
  • Highly organized with the ability to prioritize the importance of multiple tasks
  • Must be deadline and detail-oriented
  • Experience in Commercial, Healthcare, or Mulit-Family is a plus

Safety:
  • Clean and prepare construction sites to eliminate possible hazards
  • Control traffic passing near, in, and around work zones
  • Erect and disassemble scaffolding, shoring, braces, traffic barricades, ramps, and other temporary structures
  • Signal equipment operators to facilitate alignment, movement, and adjustment of machinery, equipment, and materials
  • Fill out weekly Tool Box Talks
  • Cleans equipment, shop area, and work site area
  • Ensures all safety codes, requirements and standards are being complied within assigned area of responsibility
  • Provides oversight of field activities to ensure personnel safety
