The Department of Chemistry at Colby College invites applications for a tenure-track, assistant professor position in Physical Chemistry to begin September 1, 2018.

Qualifications

We welcome applications from physical chemists with research interests in experimental and/or theoretical chemistry. Preference will be given to candidates with expertise in nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy and/or those who can build upon the College’s computational biochemistry program. Candidates must have a Ph.D. by the start date (including graduate coursework in physical chemistry) and a strong commitment to undergraduate education. Teaching responsibilities will include courses (with laboratories) in General Chemistry, Thermodynamics and Kinetics, Quantum Mechanics, and an advanced course in the candidate’s area of specialty.

The successful candidate will be expected to establish a vigorous research program that includes undergraduate students. Research is supported with a competitive startup package, excellent instrumentation, and expanding computational resources.
