General Statement of Job

To implement and maintain a system for the accurate tracking, reporting, controlling, and safeguarding of the Austin Community College (ACC) District's capital fixed assets.

Position Information
Location Service Center Hours 40 hours/week as assigned; Generally Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Salary Specialist 6/118 ($32,022.00 - $45,745.00) FLSA Status Non-Exempt Reports To Vice President, Business Services Criminal Background Check Pre-employment criminal background checks are required for all Staff and Faculty positions. Pre-employment urinalyses drug screens are also required for all top candidates considered for positions in ACC's College Police department.

Description of Duties and Tasks

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Implements, maintains, and promotes ACC's districtwide fixed assets inventory process.
  • Updates the fixed assets tracking system for the District's fixed assets.
  • Ensures all fixed assets are properly tagged and recorded in the fixed asset tracking system.
  • Conducts fixed assets inventories, as needed.
  • Coordinates and records transfers and disposals of fixed assets.
  • Develops fixed asset reports, including inventory reports.
  • Assists in the reconciliation of the fixed assets tracking database with related fixed assets general ledger, and coordinates any variances with relevant fixed assets accounting staff.
  • Assists with the development of written processes and procedures for identifying, tracking, transferring, reporting, and disposing of fixed assets.
  • Assists with the training of staff in relation to fixed asset systems, processes, and procedures.
  • Investigates discrepancies between cycle counts and inventory records.

    • Coordinating and maintaining capital and non-capital fixed asset tracking databases.
    • Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
    • Conducting and coordinating fixed assets physical inventories.
    • Implementing processes in relation to fixed assets safeguarding.
    • Maintaining confidentiality of work-related information and materials.
    • Ability to work independently or in a team environment.
    • Ability to use a handheld device for the purpose of scanning and validating inventory.

    Technology Skills

    • Use a variety of spreadsheet, word processing, database, and presentation software.

    Required Work Experience

    • Two years related work experience.

    Preferred Work Experience

    • Directly related experience in inventory control.

    Required Education

    • High school diploma or GED equivalent.

    Preferred Education

    • Associate degree or higher.

    Special Requirements

    Licenses/Certifications; Other

    • Valid Texas Driver's License and reliable transportation for local Austin area travel.

    Physical Requirements

    • Work is performed in a standard office, warehouse or similar environment.
    • Subject to standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, pushing, and pulling.
    • Occasional lifting of objects up to 30 pounds.


    • Work safely and follow safety rules. Report unsafe working conditions and behavior. Take reasonable and prudent actions to prevent others from engaging in unsafe practices.

    Full-time Faculty and Staffing Table employees who work in full-time and/or part-time positions at the College are eligible for ACC medical benefits effective the first of the month after their first 60 days of employment. Benefits include medical, dental, life insurance, short and long term disability, retirement plans and AD&D.

    ACC does not participate in Social Security. ACC participates in the Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS) and the Optional Retirement Program (ORP-Faculty Only). Part-time and Hourly employees participate in the ACC Money Purchase Plan (ACCMPP) as a retirement program required by Federal law.
