Analyst, Institutional Effectiveness

General Statement of Job

To support collegewide institutional effectiveness and accountability efforts by conducting institutional research and analyzing that data to provide information for collegewide decisions and assigned reporting requirements.

Position Information
Location Highland Business Center Hours 40 hours/week as assigned; Generally Monday-Friday, 8 am - 5 pm Salary Professional 2/121 ($42,070.00 - $60,101.00) FLSA Status Exempt Reports To Vice President, Effectiveness and Accountability Criminal Background Check Pre-employment criminal background checks are required for all Staff and Faculty positions. Pre-employment urinalyses drug screens are also required for all top candidates considered for positions in ACC's College Police department.

Description of Duties and Tasks

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Designs, conducts, and manages research projects utilizing appropriate tools and methods; analyzes data collected to support district strategic planning including trend analysis to ascertain patterns, program evaluation, decision making, and government reporting requirements; includes coordinating information from various data sources, complex reports, and determining/analyzing performance metrics and performance against established goals.
  • Conducts external and internal environmental scanning (e.g., higher education trends, business/industry trends, service area population growth, and utilization of college resources).
  • Develops and maintains custom computer programs and queries to support internal and external reports for the college community, state and federal agencies, and other external stakeholders.
  • Prepares formal reports and statistical charts, completes government submissions, and makes recommendations regarding strategic planning, continuous improvement, and institutional effectiveness.
  • Designs and administers institutional surveys such as graduate follow up, transportation, employer, etc. Analyzes and interprets data from these surveys. Develops informative presentations to communicate to the collegewide community.
  • Coordinates Austin Community College's participation in national surveys (e.g., Community College Survey of Student Engagement (CCSSE), Survey of Entering Student Engagement (SENSE), Noel-Levitz, etc.). Analyzes and interprets data from these surveys. Develops informative presentations to communicate to the collegewide community.
  • Develops and implements training and technical support in strategic planning, data collection, data analysis and interpretation, environmental scanning, survey design and administration, research methods, and related topics.
  • Develops models for forecasting enrollments and related district trends, and conducts analysis utilizing data to optimize current and future enrollment needs.
  • Uses prescriptive analytics to predict and prescribe recommendations or actions relating to student retention, success, and enrollment management.
  • May monitor and recommend internal process changes in government-related regulations for reporting, consult with college staff on those changes, and interpret regulations for reporting purposes including the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) regulations related to reporting and state funding.

  • Knowledge

    Required Work Experience

    • Two years related work experience.

    Preferred Work Experience

    • More than two years related work experience.

    Required Education

    • Bachelor's degree.

    Preferred Education

    • Master's degree.

    • Depending on area of specialization, may include knowledge of programs used in educational institutions and/or data warehousing and data mining.

    Physical Requirements

    • Work is performed in a standard office or similar environment.
    • Subject to standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, pushing, and pulling.
    • Occasional lifting of objects up to 10 pounds.

    Full-time Faculty and Staffing Table employees who work in full-time and/or part-time positions at the College are eligible for ACC medical benefits effective the first of the month after their first 60 days of employment.
