The Department of Linguistics at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign invites applications for a tenure-track position in Syntax and Syntactic Theory at the rank of Assistant Professor. The appointment will be a full-time, nine-month position. The target start date of appointment is August 16, 2018.

Candidate's research record should provide clear evidence of excellence in the field. Additional expertise in computational linguistics is preferred. Expertise in areas that complement the existing strengths of the unit, such as experimental approaches to syntax, psycholinguistics, language acquisition, syntax-semantics interface, and morphology-syntax interface is a plus. The person appointed should demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching. Teaching duties include both undergraduate and graduate teaching in syntactic theory and general linguistics. PhD in Linguistics (or in a closely related field) is required before the starting date of employment. Salary is commensurate with the experience and qualifications of the candidate.
