Position Summary: Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center lab focuses on implementing therapeutic RNA-interference (RNAi) with nanoparticles to target metastatic biology in lung cancer. We are actively pursuing several leads that are responsible for metastasis, and we are especially interested in the role of manipulating the tumor microenvironment. Our overall goal is to study mechanisms of lung cancer metastasis and translate novel RNAi therapeutics into the clinic. This position will design, manage and execute experiments in accordance with the lab's focus. This will include optimizing assays, potential screening efforts, screen validation and follow-up studies. Assist with manuscript and grant writing. Will work collaboratively with other researchers in the lab and within Lineberger.

Application Deadline:

Education Requirements: BA or BS in biological sciences and 3 years laboratory experience required. Masters or PhD preferred.

Qualification and Experience: At least 3 years biochemical and molecular biology experience is required. Experience with mammalian tissue culture is required. Experience with reporter assays and sub-cloning expertise is desired. Experience using Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator are preferred. Transfection of cultured human cells with DNA, miRNA and siRNA, generation and handling of retro- and lenti-viruses for delivery into human tissue culture cells, protein immune-precipitation, experience with flow cytometry or FACS (fluorescence activated cell sorting) and fluorescence microscopy are preferred.
