The Senior Enterprise Architecture Analyst is a key role within the DCRI (Duke Clinical Research Institute) reporting to the Enterprise Architect and responsible for translating business strategy into IT strategy and enterprise architecture. Working closely with leaders and project teams, the Senior Enterprise Architecture Analyst analyzes and designs solutions, ensuring fit by understanding the business requirements (what are we trying to accomplish), the technical requirements (how will we accomplish it), and the enterprise architecture. The goal of the Senior Enterprise Architecture Analyst is to help create a framework that smoothly bridges the gaps between business architecture, system architecture, and technology architecture, and then apply that framework to improve the architecture of the enterprise through managed change. The Senior Enterprise Architecture Analyst must remain up to date on emerging technologies and be able to identify and communicate the potential for improving business outcomes through the application of information technology.

Primary Job Responsibilities
-Work with DCRI-IT, application groups, business groups, and the various technical areas with a charter to review, assist with, and/or oversee the design of all layers of the architecture,including the business, application,information, and technology layers.

-Work with other architects and technical leads within the organization to lead and drive technical strategy relating back to the business initiatives and goals of DCRI.

-Contribute to the on-going development of technical strategies,technical road maps, and best practices to support business goals and achieve business excellence.

-Use a structured methodology to evaluate, select, and identify gaps in architectural alternatives, encompassing underlying concepts, best practices, hardware, software, and tools.

-Perform financial analysis using cost/benefit analysis, return on investment, and other financial evaluation techniques.

-Work with technical staff to develop a strong understanding of current technologies and emerging technologies that maybe used to support DCRI initiatives and goals.

-Perform gap analysis assessments of strategies and existing operations to identify opportunities for alignment and improvement.

-Assist in financial analysis, business case development, and justification for initiatives.

-Assist and evaluate business partners who can provide improved solutions and benefits to our enterprise.

-Maintain the architecture knowledge base and other architecture artifacts, adhering to all documentation standards.

-Adhere to all policies and procedures.

-Rationalize all key architectural decisions for reuse, redundancy, operational effectiveness, and cost effectiveness.

-Work with project teams to ensure that individual project architecture components align with the direction of the enterprise architecture.

-Analyze technology, industry, and market trends, and determine their potential impact on the enterprise.

-Provide input to resource planning, cost estimation, budget development, and cost control.

-Develop and maintain enterprise architecture artifact, including standards, principles, strategies,and road maps.

-Understand regulations from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and Office of Inspector General, and other appropriate entities, to ensure that our IT initiatives stay in compliance with regulatory mandates.

-Develop a deep understanding of the DCRI business model and goals, and use that understanding to contribute to a comprehensive architectural plan aligning the business goals with the IT that supports the goals.

Bachelor's degree in computer science, math or a computer-related field, or equivalent technical training. Master's degree preferred.
