This class series uses three levels in the Professional Services Occupational Group and describes support and teaching work in a childcare setting for young children. Positions use educational and child care concepts in providing care for children in a child care center. Positions conduct individual and group activities with children in a variety of educational and recreational settings. Positions also perform a variety of support services in such areas as food delivery, safety and sanitation maintenance, and individual observation of children. Positions provide advice to supervisors on educational, recreational, and childcare center practices and procedures.
The University of Colorado Denver Anschutz Medical Campus seeks a full-time, University Staff (non-classified), Early Childhood Educator II (Infant Program Supervisor) to work in the Addiction Research and Treatment Services (ARTS) at Ft. Logan Campus in Southwest Denver.
This position acts as an Infant Program Supervisor and will coordinate care and activities in the Baby Haven infant classrooms and program. Will also be assigned a classroom and act as an ECT to provide direct child care to children and supportive services to families by meeting all other children's needs and engaging families in expanding their knowledge about early care and education; provide an enriching learning environment for infants, toddlers and preschoolers; follow all agency child care, licensing and quality standards; provide developmentally appropriate play to children; follow curriculum guidelines (Creative Curriculum); coordinate services with early intervention and ancillary providers, collaborate with The Haven treatment team regarding about issues related to a child's health or parenting/behavioral concerns; collaborate with community partners such as CPP, DPP, ELV, DECC, etc., and perform other duties that are assigned or required
PLEASE NOTE: Candidates will be responsible for travel expenses related to the interview process and any relocation expenses, if applicable.
Salary and Benefits:
The hiring salary for this position is $31,200 and is negotiable and commensurate with skills and experience. This position is eligible for overtime compensation.

*Possess a bachelor's degree in early childhood education, or a directly related field from an accredited institution
*One (1) year of professional level experience (working in a lead position at a licensed childcare facility).
*Use of Creative Curriculum and/or Teaching Strategies Gold or other evidence based curriculum and assessment tool.
*Training or coaching experience-using ITERS/ECERS, Colorado Shines, and/or child care licensing.
*Must have verifiable experience working with young children (infants, toddlers, preschoolers)
Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis but not for the specific required experience.
Conditions of Employment:
*Presently childcare center director qualified per current State of Colorado Child Care Licensing Rules and Regulations.
*Must agree to fingerprinting and criminal background check. Required background checks include a review with the Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) AND the Central Registry of Child Protection (Trails).
*Subject to pre-employment, post-accident or incident or reasonable suspicion drug and alcohol testing per UCD Addiction Research and Treatment Services Department Policies.
*In accordance with the Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA), ARTS cannot employ individuals (who may have contact with residents) who have (1) engaged in sexual abuse in a prison, jail, lockup, community confinement facility, juvenile facility, or other Institution (as defined in 42 U.S. C. § 1997); (2) been convicted of engaging or attempting to engage in sexual activity in the community facilitated by force, overt or implied threats of force, or coercion, or if the victim did not consent or was unable to consent or refuse; or (3) been civilly or administratively adjudicated to have engaged in the activity described in (1-3) of this section. Material omissions regarding such misconduct, or the provision of materially false information, shall be grounds for termination
*Must be willing and able to lift at least 30 lbs on a frequent basis, walk, squat/kneel, site on floor, lift and lower children into and out of cribs, see, hear, speak with children to ensure children's health and safety
*Must be willing and able to pass a medical examination
*Must be willing and able to attend evening teacher in-services and center events (minimum twice months)?
*Must be willing and able to attend center events on Saturdays (at least quarterly)
*Prior supervisory experience.
*Use of Creative Curriculum and/or Teaching Strategies Gold
*Experience in a quality rated childcare program
*Experience providing services to low income families or at risk children with a focus on women's issues (i.e. trauma; domestic violence; mental health treatment; substance use disorder; parenting and child development; barriers women experience in treatment such as childcare, employment, finding a job that pays enough to support their family; etc.)
