The Mission of the IAS is to foster, facilitate and conduct science-based interdisciplinary environmental research that seeks to understand how human actions impact the environment, and to use that knowledge to suggest scientific, engineering, policy and/or educational solutions to environmental problems.

Job Description
The Institute for Applied Sciences Department at the University of North Texas is seeking to hire a Instructional Lab Supv II to join our team. Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:

* Assisting in the management and operations of IAS.
* Special attention to the research laboratory and field facilities.
* Planning, training, supervision, instructional methods and procedures for beneficial improvement.

Minimum Qualifications
The successful candidate will possess a Master's Degree in related field and three years of related scientific or laboratory experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

The following knowledge, skills, and abilities are required:
* Extensive knowledge of equipment and instrumentation appropriate to the nature of the lab and/or the discipline and of supplies including operation, set-up, storage, and maintenance.
* Working knowledge of instructional applications related to the laboratory and/or the discipline.
* Physical abilities and skills to readily assemble and operate equipment and instrumentation.
* Knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions applicable to the lab, particularly in the sciences.
* Ability to make effective presentations of experiments or software, and provide instruction in laboratory techniques, use of equipment, use of software, procedures, and safety rules.
* Ability to supervise work performed by others and to work independent of close supervision.
* Experience with external funding and funding agencies.

Preferred Qualifications
The preferred candidate will possess the following additional qualifications:

* Working knowledge of I.T. & GIS.
