FT Assistant Professor - Spanish
Teach Spanish courses consistent with current foreign language pedagogy. Incorporate 21st century technology skills into daily instruction. Serves as Spanish lead in program/department meetings and divisional/college-wide committees with a focus on continual improvement of programs and learning outcomes. Lead coordination in Spanish curriculum and course development, course and program coordination, tutoring and advising students, mentoring and reviewing courses with peers to ensure high quality instruction. Participate in the shared governance of the College. Demonstrate commitment to the diversity of a multi-cultural population, as well as work effectively in a team-based environment, seeking continuous improvement and adherence to the community college philosophy.
Creation and maintenance of master courses for both face-to-face and online courses for Spanish classes taught at Lansing Community College. Regular co-collaboration with Spanish adjunct faculty is required to ensure the Spanish courses are aligned with college policies and that learning outcomes are met. May perform other tasks assigned by supervisor. Possess the skills and desire to work in a collaborative team with others.
Education and Experience
Master’s Degree in Spanish Language from a regionally accredited college or university; or, Master’s Degree (from a regionally accredited college or university) in a related field and a minimum of 18 semester hours (or 27 quarter hours) of graduate-level coursework in the discipline.
Native or near-native proficiency in Spanish and English languages.
PhD in Spanish Language from a regionally accredited college or University; or, PhD (from a regionally accredited college or university) in a related field and a minimum of 18 semester hours (or 27 quarter hours) of graduate-level coursework in the discipline.
College teaching experience both face-to-face and online.
