Job Summary and Description 

Teach courses in Communication, consistent with current developments in the discipline and teaching methods. Participate in program/department meetings and divisional/college-wide committees with a focus on continual improvement of programs and learning outcomes. Participate in curriculum and course development, course and program coordination, tutoring and advising students, mentoring and reviewing peers, and shared governance of the College. Participate in student assessment initiatives within the program and college, and implement the determinations of those initiatives. Must demonstrate a commitment to the diversity of a multi-cultural population, as well as work effectively in a team-based environment, seeking continuous improvement and adherence to the community college philosophy.

Education and Experience

 

Required:  

Master’s Degree in Speech and/or Communication from a regionally accredited college or university; or, Master’s Degree in a related field (from a regionally accredited college or university) and a minimum of 18 semester hours (or 27 quarter hours) of graduate-level coursework in Speech and/or Communication required.

Significant experience teaching Speech and/or Communication, or related field at the college level required.

Preferred:

PhD in Speech and/or Communication from a regionally accredited college or university; or, PhD in a related field (from a regionally accredited college or university) and a minimum of 18 semester hours (or 27 quarter hours) of graduate-level coursework in Speech and/or Communication preferred.

Experience in course and program-wide assessment preferred. 

Experience with significant curriculum development or curriculum reform is preferred.  

Work experience in Communication-related field relevant to this discipline preferred.
