The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the University of Kentucky is recruiting a board certified forensic pathologist with additional interest in medical education. Fellowship training is preferred. The position will see a full range of cases, both forensic, and hospital based. Additionally, there will be the opportunity to engage with medical students on a regular basis on a Northern Kentucky campus extension of the University of Kentucky, College of Medicine. This position would provide regular oversight and interaction with the medical school.

The successful candidate would join an academic hospital-based practice and engage primarily in autopsy service and teaching duties for St. Elizabeth Healthcare. The faculty member is expected to be active in teaching by lecture, through small group instruction, and coordination with the OME to collaborate with the team of educators on the northern campus. The faculty member will have primary responsibility to perform coroner-authorized medicolegal autopsies, complete related reports, and provide expert testimony at court.

The department (http://www.mc.uky.edu/pathology/) is an integrated department of pathology with successful programs in anatomic, clinical and molecular pathology, a vibrant educational program for medical students, residents and fellows as well as a nationally-recognized research program in neuropathology and research affiliations with the Markey Cancer Center.

Demonstrated achievement as a forensic expert with evidence of high professional status, established ability in teaching students at all levels in academia, and comprehensive, up-to-date knowledge in the practice of anatomic and forensic pathology, as well as in clinical pathology in regard to forensic issues.



Required License/ Registration/Certification

Certification by the American Board of Pathology in anatomic and in the subspecialty of forensic pathology within two years of appointment if directly out of Fellowship.



Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

Knowledge and skill at performing forensic autopsies is required.
