As our principal fundraiser, this individual will provide leadership, management, design, and execution of a philanthropy program for the college. The Director of Philanthropy is responsible for identifying new donors, cultivating existing donors, and soliciting donors for academic purposes. In addition, s/he is responsible for stewarding present and past donors and monitoring donations to ensure proper recording and expenditures. S/he will use various techniques to increase the number of donors and the amount of annual/planned giving. The Director of Philanthropy is expected to make at least two dozen proposals annually of at least $25,000 each, with the expectation that half would be accepted. In addition, the Director of Philanthropy is expected to make at least 100 face-to-face visits. The Director of Philanthropy will be required to travel to various donor locations, both in-state and out-of-state, often for several days at a time.

In addition, the College of Law has entered an exciting phase of its capital campaign for the building renovation. S/he will be responsible for solicitation of capital campaign funds, monitoring donations to ensure proper recording, and activities.

The position will also oversee all philanthropy and alumni affairs budgets, as well as supervise all philanthropy and alumni relations staff. S/he oversees initiatives and staff involved with event outreach, partnership and association affiliations on behalf of the College of Law. S/he is responsible for organizing and/or evaluating all philanthropy programs and events including: Law Alumni Association meetings, memberships, and events; Hall of Fame nominations and recognition dinner; KBA annual reception and LAA awards ceremony; Lafferty/Lawson Society membership and reception; regional law school receptions and events such as the receptions held in conjunction with Dean's Circle lunches and the Champion's Classic reception; and Visiting Committee meetings and special events. S/he is responsible for all annual reporting to the Visiting Committee and to the Faculty.

Finally, the Director of Philanthropy will monitor annual fund progress and work with the College of Law's philanthropy assistant and University's Office of Philanthropy phone-a-thon staff to maximize results. S/he will oversee the preparation of all annual fund solicitation letters and emails as well as stewardship letters.
