Job Summary


The Part-Time Paraprofessional supports the Office of Academic Programs (OAP).


Duties & Responsibilities


  • Monitors and tracks proposals in the Curriculum Management System and assists with workflow management
  • Assists users and provides responses and assistance for the CMS FAQ's and MDC student database system to update relative data used by departments, schools and students
  • Scans documents and converts data into PDF format to be used College-wide
  • Assists in maintaining databases, such as course competencies for faculty and student use
  • Inputs data into the MDC Course Dictionary for Continuing Workforce Education Courses (CWE) and Recreation and Leisure Courses for the School of Continuing Education and Professional Development
  • Designates Honors courses as requested by the Honors College, such as specifying Honors-By-Contract and Permanent Honors Courses
  • Compiles and distributes course description information to former MDC students and advisors from other universities
  • Serves as a CASSC Resource and assists with the maintenance of the CASSC materials
  • Prepares, compiles, and reviews data for the Office of Academic Programs
  • Maintains an up-to-date inventory of supplies for departmental use
  • Creates presentations and projects using various forms of computer programs
  • Refers callers seeking more detailed information or advice to the appropriate department coordinator
  • Inputs monthly vehicle mileage into the online forms
  • Assists with the preparation of travel materials or the Director of Academic Programs
  • Creates and maintains office files both digital and paper
  • Assists with notification of meetings
  • Serves as back-up for the Office of Academic Programs staff
  • Performs other duties as assigned



Minimum Requirements


  • Associate's degree and four (4) years of clerical experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • All educational degrees must be from a regionally accredited institution
  • Knowledge and understanding of College organization, goals and objectives, and policies and procedures
  • Ability to work within well established procedures, guidelines, and follow directions
  • Knowledge of a broad range of relevant multi-user computer systems
  • Ability to effectively utilize technology and computer Microsoft applications with varied software applications relative to area of assignment which include, SharePoint, Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat
  • Possess working knowledge of electronic technologies and tools which include, Label Maker, Scan Function, Data Burn Function, Multimedia projectors, and Presentation aids
  • Ability to accurately deal with difficult situations and or instructions
  • Possess strong written and oral communication skills
  • Possess excellent general office skills, such as accurate data entry, proper use of office equipment
  • Ability to work in a team setting and interact with people effectively and courteously
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule to include evening and weekend assigned hours
  • Ability to work well in a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural environment with students, faculty and staff
