Job Summary


The Part-Time Adult Education Trainer is responsible managing the instructional environment in Adult Basic Education (ABE) and/or General Equivalency (GED) Program.


Duties & Responsibilities


  • Provides academic support to ABE/GED students
  • Conducts workshops focused on specific subject areas and test taking strategies
  • Serves as a motivational role model, assisting students with their academic needs
  • Ensures that all student files meet audit requirement standards
  • Monitors and documents student attendance
  • Performs extensive documentation of student progress
  • Attends all required meetings
  • Performs other duties as assigned



Minimum Requirements


  • Bachelor's degree in a related field from a regionally accredited institution with two (2) years of experience teaching Adult Education or ABE/GED
  • Knowledge and understanding of College organization, goals and objectives and policies and procedures
  • Knowledge of ABE/GED curriculum that includes math, language arts, science and social studies
  • Ability to use computer applications and willing to work in computer lab environment
  • Possess excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Possess strong interpersonal and organizational skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community
  • Proficiency in Microsoft office software and specific computer programs related to area of responsibility
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret student test scores (TABE, GED Practice Test) and reports
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include evening and weekend assignments
  • Ability to work well in a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural environment with students, faculty and staff
