Job Summary


The Director of Innovation and Entrepreneurship Programs provides leadership in an academic and non-academic hybrid environment and serves as an integral member of the College and Campus administrative teams by working closely with Department Chairs, Academic Deans and Campus Presidents throughout the College to ensure the of the Idea Center programs implementation aligns with academic and non-academic programming throughout the college This is a Professional Exempt Contractual (PEC) position for which an annual contract reflecting the base salary within the fiscal year (July 1st to June 30th) will be issued after ratification by Miami Dade College's District Board of Trustees.


Duties & Responsibilities


  • Directs the Idea Center's programming by identifying, developing and implementing new programs that meet student, industry and community needs
  • Hires, supervises and evaluates personnel; evaluates and establishes departmental policies and procedures
  • Provides professional development opportunities for all employees in the department
  • Ensures the effective implementation of the faculty advancement process and adheres to the collective bargaining agreement
  • Supervises the development/review of curricula consistent with current research and state frameworks
  • Collaborates with local businesses and internal programs to support robust student job placement
  • Develops semester course schedules and faculty assignments
  • Creates educational partnerships with leading in-field industries
  • Provides student opportunities for national competitions
  • Markets and recruits for the program
  • Provides program information and ensures the availability of advisement services for students
  • Prepares and maintains departmental budgets, labs and equipment
  • Supports Resource Development office with grant proposal preparation as needed
  • Performs other duties as assigned



Minimum Requirements


  • Master's degree from a regionally accredited institution and a minimum of five (5) years of relevant combined experience in education and industry experience as a former or current business entrepreneur or business innovation leader
  • All degrees must be from a regionally accredited institution
  • Knowledge and understanding of College organization, goals and objectives, and policies and procedures
  • Knowledge and understanding of a wide range of instructional systems development, training methods, techniques and formats
  • Knowledge of current and emerging trends in innovation and entrepreneurship
  • Ability to think strategically and translate leading edge ideas into a range of academic and non-academic programming
  • Knowledge of the requirements of accreditation agencies
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills (both oral and written)
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of individuals and constituencies in a diverse community
  • Skill in budget preparation and management
  • Knowledge of Microsoft office software and specific computer programs related to area of responsibility
  • Ability to write reports, speeches and articles that conform to prescribed style and format
  • Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors
  • Ability to develop and lead program advisory committees that include in-field industry representatives
  • Ability to supervise and train assigned staff including organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule which may include evening and weekend assignments
  • Ability to work effectively in a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural environment with faculty, staff, and students
