Job Summary


The Administrative Officer performs a broad range of responsibilities and serves as an internal key resource to the College President. The position manages the daily administrative operations and provides support to the Office of the College President. This is a Professional Exempt Contractual (PEC) position for which an annual contract reflecting the base salary within the fiscal year (July 1st to June 30th) will be issued after ratification by Miami Dade College's District Board of Trustees.


Duties & Responsibilities


  • Provides high level of administrative and logistical support to the Office of the College President
  • Provides leadership, direction and supervision to the President's Office Staff
  • Serves as the President's liaison to internal stakeholders as required by the College President
  • Represents the President at internal events, as assigned
  • Assists the College President in the coordination of various functions and projects that relate directly to the office
  • Establishes effective measures to ensure smooth functioning of office operations
  • Coordinates internal communications with corresponding departments College-wide
  • Oversees that information is prepared in a concise manner to be distributed to a variety of audiences
  • Develops and identifies administrative processes in order to better serve and accommodate the needs of the office
  • Interprets and evaluates College policies and procedures relative to academic and administrative functions
  • Conducts research on a wide range of topics as requested by the College President
  • Analyzes and compiles information for the College President, as needed
  • Performs other duties as assigned



Minimum Requirements


  • Master's degree in Business and four (4) years of experience in education or related field; or a Bachelor's degree in Business and eight (8) years of experience in education or related field
  • All educational degrees must be from a regionally accredited institution
  • Knowledge and understanding of College organization, goals and objectives, and policies and procedures
  • Proficient in public policy concepts, principles, methodology, and techniques
  • Knowledge and understanding of current and emerging federal, state, and local public policy issues and trends applicable to educational institutions
  • Demonstrates strong research interpretation, analytical, writing, and communication skills
  • Working knowledge in Microsoft Office and database applications
  • Ability to consistently demonstrate poise, sophistication, and a politically savvy demeanor
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Ability to develop and effectively deliver presentations
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Ability to work well in a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural environment with students, faculty and staff
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include evening and weekend assignments
