Job Summary


The Part-Time Paraprofessional is responsible for providing superior customer service to both internal and external customers and limited administrative work of various administrative details which may include, but is not limited to: fiscal, personnel, accounting, record keeping, special projects, contracts and other management areas. Represents the department in a positive, professional and enthusiastic manner at all times.


Duties & Responsibilities


  • Performs a variety of routine and complex clerical, secretarial, and administrative work in keeping official records, providing administrative support to the Unit and Department
  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with other employees, management, and all members of the general public
  • Answers, screens and routes incoming telephone calls to appropriate departmental personnel, and responds to customer inquiries both verbally and in writing
  • Compiles and maintains spreadsheets used for budgeting and financial purposes
  • Prepares documents for special events, marketing efforts and routine administrative office functions
  • Maintains supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies; placing and expediting orders for supplies; verifying receipt of supplies
  • Serves as an assistant to upper management and senior staff members
  • Performs general clerical tasks such as faxing, photocopying, collating, typing, and filing
  • Provides test proctoring as assigned
  • Collects information resulting in custody of records; such as, applicant files as needed
  • Performs other duties as assigned



Minimum Requirements


  • Associate's degree and four (4) years of clerical experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Knowledge and understanding of College organization, goals and objectives, and policies and procedures
  • Ability to work within well established procedures, guidelines, and follow directions
  • Ability to effectively handle several assignments simultaneously
  • Ability to express oneself effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Ability to effectively utilize technology and computer Microsoft applications with varied software applications relative to area of assignment
  • Possess excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Possess excellent organizing and planning skills with attention to detail
  • Possess excellent general office skills, i.e., accurate data entry, proper use of office equipment
  • Ability to work independently and on team projects
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule to include evening and weekend assigned hours
  • Ability to work well in a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural environment with students, faculty and staff
