Job Summary

Reporting to the Executive Director, this position oversees the day-to-day operations of the MDC Foundation office, including the management and direct supervision of Alumni Relations, Donor Relations, Advancement Services and Research/Prospect Management directors. This is a Professional Exempt Contractual (PEC) position for which an annual contract reflecting the base salary within the fiscal year (July 1st to June 30th) will be issued after ratification by Miami Dade College's District Board of Trustees.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assists the Executive Director with the strategic direction, management and, operational functions of the MDC Foundation office
  • Develops a comprehensive alumni relations campaign and related programs
  • Develops a comprehensive donor relations stewardship program and strategies
  • Oversees the management of relationships with donors as well as the collecting, processing and receipting of all gifts for the college (approximately $150 million).
  • Defines, recommends, and implements policies and procedures to support fundraising efforts, systems support, data integrity and security, and gives processing and oversight
  • Oversees proactive research for potential philanthropic support from alumni and other constituency groups
  • Develops internal departmental policies and procedures for the areas under his/her responsibility in addition to the development site of the foundation
  • Coordinates the creation of a strategic multi-media campaign targeting the various constituency groups especially alumni
  • Assists the Executive Director as liaison in all special needs, projects and requests
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements

  • Master's degree (MA or MS) from an accredited college/university in a related field of study such as Business, Public Relations or Marketing and six (6) years of directly related work experience; or Bachelor's degree in a related field of study and ten (10) years of directly related work experience
  • All degrees must be from a regionally accredited institution
  • Knowledge and understanding of College organization, goals and objectives, and policies and procedures
  • Knowledge of discovery, cultivation, and stewardship strategies and techniques
  • Knowledge of current and innovative alumni programming strategies used in the industry
  • Knowledge of current trends in date management and reporting practices in the industry
  • Ability to work independently while keeping with the mission, vision and goals of the department
  • Demonstrates ability to lead assigned areas to successfully complete projects in a time manner
  • Ability to interact and represent the foundation in a professional and multi-cultural environment
  • Possess strong leadership skills with the ability to be influential
  • Possess excellent interpersonal and networking skills
  • Possess excellent organizational skills, presentation skills and communication skills (both oral and written)
  • Knowledge and understanding of College organization, goals and objectives, and policies and procedures
  • Ability to work well in a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural environment with students, faculty and staff
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule to include evening and weekend assignments as needed
