Computer Science: Assistant Professor of Computer Science
Mathematics and Computer Science: Assistant Professor of Computer Science - 000711
The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at the University of Richmond, a small, highly-selective, private, undergraduate liberal arts institution, invites applications for a tenure-track position in computer science at the level of assistant professor to begin August 2018. A Ph.D. in computer science is required and must be completed by the start date. Strong candidates at the associate and full professor level will also be considered.
Applicants should have the potential and desire to commit to highly effective teaching at all levels of the undergraduate curriculum and to maintain a vigorous research program that has the potential to engage undergraduates in meaningful research outcomes. We are especially interested in recruiting individuals who have experience in broadening access and inclusivity in STEM disciplines in general, and in computer science specifically, which aligns with the University's strategic plan (https://strategicplan.richmond.edu).
Applicants should visit our Careers Site (http://jobs.richmond.edu) to apply. Applicants will be asked to submit a single PDF file containing a cover letter, a curriculum vitae, a statement describing their teaching experience and interests, and a statement describing their research agenda. For full consideration, applicants must demonstrate in their cover letter (1) how their teaching and scholarly interests will contribute in the context of an undergraduate liberal arts education, and (2) how the applicant will contribute to the imperatives of broadening access and inclusivity in CS and STEM. The successful candidate's statements should highlight the applicant's vision for integration of teaching and research, and how undergraduates may be incorporated into the candidate's research program. Applicants will also be asked to submit the names of three references who will receive an automated email asking them to submit their reference letters to this web site. Applications received by November 15, 2017 will be guaranteed full consideration, while those received after that date will be accepted until the position is filled.
The University of Richmond is committed to developing a diverse workforce and student body, and to modeling an inclusive campus community which values the expression of difference in ways that promote excellence in teaching, learning, personal development, and institutional success. Our academic community strongly encourages applications that are in keeping with this commitment. For more information on the department, see http://mathcs.richmond.edu.
