Job Summary


The Part-Time Lab Instructor supports the department in the delivery of instruction and assists students in developing their written communication skills.


Duties & Responsibilities


  • Supports faculty who teach English and Gordon Rule Writing courses by assessing and diagnosing student needs as evidenced by their performance and provides feedback to the faculty on student progress
  • Instructs students on developing their major deficiencies in writing and organizing ideas
  • Assesses students with second language attributed writing difficulties and formulates individualized plans for correcting those difficulties through instructor-student sessions and online tutorials
  • Assists students with software programs
  • Develops lab instructional materials
  • Provides lab instruction through tutorials, workshops, lectures, and demonstrations to students
  • Monitors students progress and maintains student records and attendance rosters
  • Supports the department with the delivery of instructional objectives
  • Performs other duties as assigned



Minimum Requirements


  • Bachelor's Degree in English or other related field from a regionally accredited institution and one (1) year teaching experience
  • All educational degrees must be from a regionally accredited institution
  • Possess an aptitude for teaching and interest in working with students
  • Knowledge of computer applications and educational technologies for academic support
  • Possess excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include evening and weekend assignments
  • Ability to work in a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic environment with student, faculty, and staff
